Check out our partnership with Leave No Trace

Have you heard of the Leave No Trace™ (LNT) Center for Outdoor Ethics? If you haven’t, LNT is an organization whose mission is to educate those who utilize and enjoy the outdoors about their recreational impacts and techniques to prevent and/or minimize those impacts. Leave No Trace wants to keep outdoor lovers doing what they love most, enjoying all Mother Nature has to offer, while teaching the importance of preserving this beautiful earth we live to wander.

In 2018, after years of searching for the right cause to support, Tec Labs has joined Leave No Trace™ as a partner to help spread awareness about nature conservation. As Oregon natives, and the makers of Tecnu® for poison oak and ivy, we felt that this partnership couldn’t be more of a perfect fit!

LNT’s goals are this: 1.) Leave no trace in every park, 2.) Leave no trace for every kid, and 3.) Every person who ventures outside puts Leave No Trace practices into action.

To simplify the monumental task of preserving and protecting the outdoors for generations to come, LNT has compiled numerous “challenges” and tip cards for outdoor enthusiasts to implement when they venture outdoors. These tips and challenges cover everything from hunting to rock climbing, fishing to geocaching, front country treks to river corridors and more. One of our favorite tip cards covers the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace™:

  1. Plan ahead and prepare
  2. Travel & camp on durable surfaces
  3. Dispose of waste properly
  4. Leave what you find
  5. Minimize campfire impacts
  6. Respect wildlife
  7. Be considerate of other visitors

These seven simple steps are all it takes to teach basic responsible enjoyment of the outdoors for the benefit of people and the natural environment. The great thing about LNT, is that it can be implemented ANYWHERE! You don’t have to be a hardcore adventure seeker like Bear Grylls to put Leave No Trace™ steps into action! Anytime you’re outdoors whether it’s in your yard, at a park, in a parking lot, or on the trail, you can Leave No Trace; pick up a piece of trash, clean up after your pets, and leave your surroundings in better condition than you found them.

Each Leave No Trace™ Challenge or Tip card includes information on planning and preparing in advance of your outing, tips for traveling and camping on durable surfaces, and how to dispose of waste properly.
